Candles are absolutely wonderful and there is nothing more romantic or soothing than relaxing in a room by candlelight. However, we feel that certain safety guides should be given and many are simply common sense but it may be an idea just to take a couple of minutes to go through them and make sure you are being safe!

  GENERAL

• Always check any labels and warnings that come with the candle or candle holder

Use a suitable non-flammable holder

• Ensure the candle is standing upright in the holder before lighting

• Always place candle or candle holders on a surface that will not get damaged by heat

• Do not move candles whilst still lit or when wax is still liquid

• Never leave a burning candle unattended

• Remove all packaging before use

• Burn out of reach of children and pets

• Extinguish candles with a candle snuffer. Do not blow them out

• Never use water to extinguish a candle

• Allow headroom above the candle for heat to disperse

• Ensure candles are burned away from flammable items

• Candles should be burned away from other sources of heat, such as televisions and direct sunlight

• Candles should always be burned in an area free from draughts

• Always make sure the wick is trimmed to 1/2inch (1cm) before lighting or relighting
